Sources
We collect stories only from a list of sources our editors have approved and dated — official notices, community associations and clearly permitted feeds. We use headlines, links and short excerpts only; we never copy whole articles or republish feed photographs without permission.
Verification
Every report needs linkable evidence. Stories that depend on another outlet's reporting require independent corroboration — two headlines repeating the same rumour do not count. If sources conflict or evidence is missing, the story is held for review, not published.
Human review
A human editor always reviews sensitive topics before publication: crime and allegations, politics and elections, deaths, injuries and disasters, immigration and visa rules, legal, medical and financial claims, religious disputes, and anything involving children.
AI assistance
Drafts may be prepared with AI assistance from a verified fact sheet — never from unsupported memory — and are checked by an editor in both English and Bengali before publication. Our byline says so: “Sylhet.Online News Desk (AI-assisted, editorially reviewed)”. Images that are illustrations are labelled as illustrations.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we say so. Corrections and retractions are recorded and shown on our corrections page. To request a correction, email support@sylhet.online.
